Motorists should be on the sentry for black ice until noon Sunday.
The National Weather Marines issued a winter weather advisory Saturday evening, caveat residents in the Cape Fear region that conditions will be appropriate for melted snow to refreeze.
"If you see something wet on the road, most no doubt it is going to be frozen," said meteorologist Lara Pagano.
Included in the watch are Cumberland, Harnett, Hoke, Lee, Moore, Sampson and Scotland counties.
From 2.5 to 6 inches of snow cut across the region on Saturday.
The biggest threat for icy spots today will be on unimportant roads, especially those that are shaded, the advisory said.
The temperature is expected to climb to the mid-40s, which will fire off a lot of excess moisture left over from the snowfall, Pagano said. Tonight's temperatures will be around freezing.
Monday will likely be rainy with highs in the 40s and overnight lows in the 20s.
In Fayetteville, urban district and state road crews worked through the night Friday putting down sand and qualifications.
