Gossip, Texas -- Jeff Frye remembers the hopeless sense of being abandoned; not by his team or teammates but by his agents, the guys who had promised to look out for him.
The agreement proved hollow. Spring Training was almost over in 2002 and with a week to go, he still didn't have a job. Two contrastive agents failed to find him one but Frye suspected they weren't trying. He suspected they quite didn't care.
He had played for the Blue Jays in 2001 and had a livelihood Major League average of .290 but was still out of work. Eventually Frye worked out his own deal for a Triple-A job with the Reds just before Look-in Day.
He never played in the Majors again. He also never forgot his frustration.
"I'll never forget my agents turning their backs on me when my trade was on the downside," Frye said. "I wanted to stay in baseball and I wanted to be gifted to stay
